National Semiconductor has introduced a series of clock jitter cleaners that feature low phase noise and an RMS jitter performance of 111fs from 12kHz to 20MHz. The cleaners also have a wideband noise floor of -162dBc/Hz at an output frequency of 184MHz. The low phase noise makes the jitter cleaners suitable for wireless and wired communications, test and measurement, medical imaging, software defined radio, and digital broadcast applications.
The LMK04800 clock jitter cleaners comprise four ICs, namely the LMK04808, LMK04806, LMK04805 and LMK04803. The ICs are optimised for generating different frequencies up to 1.5GHz for clocking ADCs, DACs, SerDes and FPGAs. With integrated features such as holdover, switchover, multiple inputs, digital delay, analogue delay, odd and even dividers and 12 programmable output format drivers, the ICs can be configured to support different architectures. The clock jitter cleaners combine the company's op amps and ADCs to provide a signal-path system solution.
