A temperature photocoupler from Toshiba Electronics Europe is for space-saving industrial applications that require an isolation interface between power modules and IC control circuitry. Suitable for industrial motor control and general-purpose inverter applications, the TLP2404 provides a minimum isolation voltage of 3750V rms. Operation is guaranteed across -40 to 125ºC. It has an inverter logic, open collector output and offers transmission rates up to 1Mbit/s. Maximum transmission delay time is only 550ns and maximum switching time dispersion is just 400ns. The photocoupler is based around a GaAlAs LED that is optically coupled to an integrated, high-gain, high-speed photo detector. The input capability supports input voltages from 4.5 to 30V. A Faraday shield guarantees minimum common mode transient immunity of ±15kV/µs.
