BI Technologies, a division of TT electronics, has developed a range of single- and dual-digital rotary encoders that are designed specifically for digital audio and video equipment, navigation systems, appliances and machine tools. The EN08 series of rotary encoders are RoHS-compliant and feature an 8mm design with options of an SPST (single-pole, single-throw) momentary switch and dual encoders with concentric shafts. The encoders feature a mechanical-type contact and are sealed to IP50 specifications. There are three model styles, namely, the EN08-N, the EN08-S, and EN08-C. The encoders have 20 detents/revolution with rotational torque of detent rated at a maximum of 1.0oz-in. The operating life of the encoders is 50,000 cycles, whereas the lifespan of the optional SPST momentary switch life is rated at 15,000 actuations. The encoders have a maximum operating speed of 30rpm at 10 pulses/revolution. The closed circuit resistance is rated at a maximum of 3Ω with a contact rating of 1mA and 5V DC. The SPST switch has an operating force of 850gf and travels up to a maximum of 0.5mm. The encoders also operate between -30 and +70°C.
