Toshiba Electronics Europe has released a NAND flash family that integrates the company's 24nm process NAND flash technology with a control chip. The SmartNAND family is available in densities ranging from 4 to 64Gbyte. The company claims that the flash memory product simplifies the host-side design and application of NAND technology in applications such as portable media players, tablet PCs, digital TVs, and set-top-boxes. The advanced process of the NAND flash, when combined with a fast controller and internal interface attains fast read and write speeds. The flash memory supports a range of read and write speeds such as four read modes and two write modes. The flash memory uses a raw NAND interface and, if necessary, can be applied to host controllers with driver software support.
