Vishay Precision Group announced that the Vishay foil resistors division has released two-, three-, and four-resistor voltage dividers and resistor networks in both bulk metal foil and Z-foil versions. The resistor arrays are available in standard configurations, and also in custom values and tolerances for all thirteen schematic variations of two, three, and four resistors. For applications requiring maximum precision, the resistors feature low absolute TCR (temperature coefficient of resistance) of ±0.05ppm/°C from 0 to +60°C and ±0.2ppm/°C from -55 to +125°C.The resistor networks comprise two, three or four resistor elements, which are combined and moulded into single units. These resistor arrays featuring Z-foil technology decrease the resistive components' sensitivity to ambient temperature variation and applied power changes.
The resistor arrays are manufactured to eliminate inter-parameter compromise. The other important characteristics such as tolerance, long-term shelf life and load stability, temperature coefficient, noise, capacitance, and inductance are offered in an optimal manner. For a thermal EMF (electromotive force) of 0.05μV/°C, the leads emerging from the arrays' packages connect directly to the resistance elements. In addition, each element offers a resistance range from 1Ω to 100kΩ. The resistor arrays feature power ratings of 0.3W per element at +125°C and resistance ratio stability to 0.001% at 0.05W. The resistor networks offer a rise time of 1.0ns, a thermal stabilisation time of less than 1s, a current noise of 0.010 μVrms/V, and a voltage coefficient of less than 0.1ppm/V.
The networks are optimised as voltage dividers, bridges, and attenuators in a variety of military and aerospace, medical, and down-hole applications. They are suitable for differential amplifiers, gain-defining resistors in digital voltmeters, ratio arms in bridge circuits, fuel metering and fire control instrumentation, binary ladders, and linear and linear-summing networks. For applications that require near-maximum stability, the foil resistor arrays feature a TCR of ±2 ppm/°C from -55 to +125°C, and a matching tolerance of 0.005%. The devices offer a low thermal EMF of 0.05 μV/°C and a resistance range from 1Ω to 150kΩ. The foil resistor arrays feature power ratings of 0.3W at +125°C for resistance values to 100kΩ, and 0.2W for resistance values of more than 100kΩ. The resistors can withstand electrostatic discharge of 25,000V, while thin film chip resistors can undergo catastrophic failures from electrostatic discharges as low as 3,000V. They are offered with terminations plated with lead-free or tin and lead alloys.
