TranSwitch has released a family of ICs that support HDMI and DisplayPort standards at high speed and image resolution. The HDP technology enables electronics devices with HDMI ports to connect with those using DisplayPort standard. According to the company, the ICs eliminate the need for expensive, active converter cables and allow consumers to view clear videos from notebook PCs, tablets and smart phones on high definition televisions by using a passive cable. The HDplay ICs are designed with four HDP inputs and one HDMI output. They support all HDMI 1.4a resolutions for large screen TVs, and 3D televisions. The ICs integrate high-speed Ethernet connectivity for digital TVs and other appliances. The ICs also support audio return channel, and HDMI Ethernet channel-enabled HDMI ports.
