SiTime has introduced the SiT380X family of MEMS-based VCXOs (voltage controlled oscillators) for telecomms, networking and embedded applications. The family consists of the SiT3808 and SiT3809 VCXOs, which offer sub-picosecond jitter. The devices have programmable features such as frequency, voltage, stability, pull range and drive strength. The oscillators operate between 1.8 and 2.5 to3.3V, and they offer pin compatibility with existing quartz-based solutions. The SiT3808 operates between 1 and 80MHz and the SiT3809 operates from 80 to 220MHz. Both devices have a pull range up to ±1600PPM and linearity less than 1%, which enables fast system synchronisation. According to the company, the tuning slope (Kv) consistency of the oscillators minimises variation in system PLL performance.
