Crucial has introduced DDR3-1066MHz very low profile registered dual in-line memory modules that are used in blade servers and to run memory intensive applications such as server virtualisation. With a PCB height of 18.75mm, the form factor is designed to reduce the space taken by memory and allow good airflow through the body of the server. The company claims that the modules assist in reducing the thermal power consumption and contribute to decreasing cooling costs. The company also claims that the device's 16Gbyte density enables data centre managers to increase total memory density per server and improve overall system performance. The memory modules are halogen-free and comply with RoHS specifications. They are also available in 4 or 8Gbyte densities, as well as kits ranging from 8 to 64Gbyte.
