Antenova has released a surface mount GPS (global positioning system) radio antenna module that incorporates the u-blox 6 GPS chipset. The M10382 GPS RADIONOVA module uses the laser direct structuring technology and provides embedded GPS, machine-to-machine and mobile device manufacturers a complete GPS system solution in a surface mountable device.
The RF antenna module operates on a single 1.8 or 3.3V positive supply and is suitable for L1-band GPS and A-GPS systems. It combines the GPS receiver IC with the company's GPS antenna. All front-end and receiver components are available in a 24.2x9.9x3.9mm surface mountable device. The module also has a 0.5ppm temperature-compensated crystal oscillator, low noise amplifier and short time-to-first-fix. It is supported by u-blox stand alone software and is compatible with universal asynchronous receiver and transmitter, serial peripheral interface, display data channel, I2C and USB host processor interfaces.
