Analog Devices has introduced the ADM2682E and ADM2687E data transceivers that meet the safety isolation requirements of high voltage systems in motor, power and energy control systems. The data transceivers feature ±15kV electrostatic discharge protection on the bus pins and are designed with the company's iCoupler isolation technology. They combine a three-channel isolator, a three-state differential line driver and a differential input receiver based on the company's isoPower isolated DC/DC converter technology. The transceivers are packaged in a single 10x13mm surface mount package with more than 8mm minimum creepage and clearance. The ADM2682E and ADM2687E transceivers achieve data rates of 16Mbit/s and 500kbit/s, respectively.
The isolated transceivers are powered by a single 5 or 3.3V supply and integrate a 5kVrms isolated DC/DC converter that eliminates the need for an external DC/DC isolation block. The company claims that the data transceivers are designed for the requirements of motor, power and energy control systems. The data transceivers operate from -40 to +85 °C and are available in a 16lead, wide-body SOIC package.
