The BU21023 and BU21024 from Rohm Semiconductor are high-speed, high noise immunity, low-voltage resistive touchscreen controllers. The controllers integrate an analogue circuit and CPU for accurate two-point coordinate and gesture detection. The controllers enable multi-touch operation and gesture control such as pinching, spreading and rotating. The increasing functionality of electronic devices drives the demand for touchscreens. The touchscreens also enable direct interaction without the need for input devices. According to the company, the touchscreen controllers enable four-wire resistive touchscreen controllers to be expanded to include dual-touch technologies. The company claims that the controllers have an inbuilt calibration function that reduces panel variations and fluctuations.
