Texas Instruments has released the second device in the family of PurePath wireless audio products that are suitable for consumer, portable and audio applications. The 2.4GHz CC8530 RF SoC transmits uncompressed wireless audio over an RF link and supports digital streaming for up to four audio channels. The company has also introduced the CC85XXDK-HEADSET development kit and reference design as part of the audio family. The SoC has four speakers that receive independent audio streams from the wireless basestation. It also has four headphones that receive either stereo A or stereo B audio from the same basestation. The SoC has a configurator PC software tool and a distributed audio clock that synchronises wireless speakers. The SoC eliminates sound distortion and supports 16bit, 44.1 or 48kHz audio without any compression.
