Texas Instruments has introduced a stereo audio codec with two fully programmable miniDSP cores to support customised processing solutions for use in soundbars and docking stations. The PCM3070 audio codec includes a stereo 24bit DAC, stereo 24bit ADC and an integrated PLL for audio clock generation. The company claims that the codec enables designers to produce soundbars and, when coupled with the value soundbar reference design kit, develop their products quickly. The audio codec has programmable 32bit miniDSP engines that allow for customised processing solutions, including branded audio effects, multiband dynamic range compression, and custom filters and algorithms. It has an SRS WOW HD feature that delivers a dynamic 3D entertainment experience with deep, rich bass and high frequency clarity for crisp detail. It has roadmap plans that provide an upgrade path to include SRS TruSurroundHD.
