Cavium Networks has released a range of SoC video processors that address the market demand for universal wireless display receivers. The PureVu processor family leverages its architecture to enable receiver designs that can support an array of home networking and wireless video transmission protocols including WiVu, WiFi Alliance 802.11-based wireless display standard, and digital living network alliance. They are suitable for low-cost video streaming wireless display receivers targeting portable consumer devices with an inbuilt wireless display functionality.
The processors offer 1080p60 H.264-based transmit and receive wireless display solutions over standard 802.11 WiFi with features such as super low latency, SMART QoS rate adaptation for multi-room operation and full stereo 3D support. They enable OEMs to build wireless display capabilities into TVs, STBs, Blu-ray players, gaming devices, wireless HDMI transmit and receive adapters, desktop PCs and notebook computers. The processors have a multi-format video processing engine capable that decodes up to 1920x1080 p30 and i60 resolution for an array of video standards including MPEG2, H.264, MPEG4, advanced visual systems, and motion JPEG. They have programmable audio DSP with direct memory access functionality to enable decoding of audio standards such as MP3, AAC, and AC3. The processor family has a video post-processor with 3D motion adaptive de-interlacer.
