Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems has introduced a 12-slot 3U OpenVPX forced air conduction-cooled chassis that is suitable for developing military embedded systems. The RME9CC chassis is the latest member of Electronic Systems' Hybricon family of advanced military commercial off-the-shelf electronic packaging solutions and provides cooling for up to 75W per slot. It is designed for 3U 1inch pitch payload cards and rear transition modules and supports OpenVPX backplanes with switch fabric support for up to 6.25Gbaud. The chassis has dimensions of 18.96x15.69x19.53inches and meets ANSI and VITA 65 power and cooling requirements. The chassis' card cage is constructed of conduction-cooled extruded and machined aluminum.
The chassis maintains card cage rails at 55°C or below and is designed for the latest REDI, VPX, and OpenVPX specifications. It incorporates a fan speed control feature that decreases acoustic noise at low temperature. The company also provides custom integration and configurations for the chassis.
