A sensor board from Libelium can be combined in a network with the company's earlier sensor boards - for gas monitoring, radiation detection and smart parking - to create services for local councils. The board measures noise and atmospheric pollution, with a detected sound pressure level (dBSPL) sensor which detects noise from traffic and people. It has a particle sensor for dust or PM-10 concentrations. The sensor is capable of measuring concentrations down to 0.1µg/cubic metre. A third sensor measures cracks in public structures such as buildings and bridges. It can detect displacements as small as 10µm as well as oscillations and dilations. Finally, an ultrasound sensor measures the levels in waste bins. This can enable waste management services to empty rubbish only from bins that are sufficiently full, saving time and fuel. The board also includes temperature, light and humidity sensors.
