Taking a step towards the ultimate radio receiver, capable of detecting and processing signals across all of the radio spectrum, all of the time, RF Engines has introduced the ChannelCore Flex, wideband channeliser IP core. Signal processing techniques, such as weighted over-lap and add pre-processing and hierarchical channelisation using a pipelined frequency transform can overcome limitations such as processing different types of transmissions concurrently. The channeliser can be configured to support thousands of channels, spanning an input bandwidth exceeding 1GHz. Each can have bandwidths that vary by several orders of magnitude, be overlapped to accommodate broadband transmissions, and have centre frequencies and sample rates that can be independently tuned. The architecture can be configured for concurrent monitoring of multiple channels, delivering an aggregate rate of over 1Gsample/s.
