The HV9957 LED driver from Supertex provides protection from faulty LED strings and combines a switch-mode boost converter and six linear current regulators to deliver accurate current control in an LED driver. The six-channel LED driver can drive up to six strings of LEDs at 30mA each and is suitable for battery-powered LED backlighting applications. It incorporates a temperature-triggered fault protection to identify faulty strings. The LED driver turns off the faulty strings when they are absolutely necessary. It provides protection from fault conditions such as over- and under-voltage supply, over-current, and over-temperature. The LED driver removes the affected LED string from feedback when the fault is identified. It is RoHS-compliant and is available in a 24-lead QFN package.
