Aitech has released two members of the M59x family of embedded graphics and video cards for rugged avionics applications. The M597 PMC (PCI mezzanine card) and M595 XMC (XDR (External Data Representation) memory controller) graphics sub-systems deliver rich I/O capabilities in a ruggedised, single-width form factor. Both boards use the AMD or ATI E4690 GPU (graphics processing unit), which delivers multiple video outputs from its native video ports. The GPU has a FPGA to support video output formats and video overlay features, video input formats and signal conditioning options. The M595 board is a dual-head display XMC and delivers video through a high-speed interface to the host system for graphics and video transfers. The M597 board includes the M595 display core and a set of video input and overlay capabilities. It has a dual-head graphics with 100MHz connectivity through a 64bit PCI-X bus. The GPU is a 600MHz hybrid device that integrates a 512Mbyte on-chip graphics DDR3 SDRAM frame buffer. It enables these boards to support multiple stream real-time video overlays. Using multiple graphics and video overlay capabilities, the boards can simultaneously drive two independent video streams into various output formats. The boards operate from -55 to +85°C and also support DirectX, OpenGL, OpenCL, and H.264 video and audio formats.
