The DX1 embedded display platform of colour TFTs, pre-integrated with touch options, backlight drivers and power supplies, from andersDX can reduce the cost and time of upgrading mono interfaces or implementing next generation colour, touch interfaces in designs. There are mounting holes and multiple options for interfacing to the main application board. An 80MHz ARM processor is combined with 1Mbyte of serial flash to store commands, macros, images and font files. The display can connect to a device host processor via I2C, SPI, serial or RS485 interface. Two channels of 10bit A/D can be used for interfacing analogue signals and a PWM and GPIOs for controlling external peripherals. GUI software suite designs and develops screens. These screens are called on through an in-built command interpreter. Initially, a 3.5inch QVGA TFT is offered, in portrait or landscape mode. The display has a viewing angle is 150° with high colour saturation and 450cd/m2 brightness. The operating range of -30 to +85°C makes it suitable for medical, industrial and military applications. Other sizes will be introduced this year, says the company. The standard model offers a four-wire resistive touchscreen, although the company offers a FlushTouch front panel design service.
