Avago Technologies has released three oval through-hole LEDs for electronic signage applications. The HLMP-Lx75, HLMP-Hx74/75 and HLMP-Ax74/75 LEDs deliver high brightness for oval through-hole LEDs and reduce the current required to drive systems. The company claims that the LEDs' matched RGB radiation pattern is designed to maintain consistent light and uniform colour mixing from all viewing angles. This enables sharp viewing quality with low power consumption for full-colour signage such as billboards, stadium video screens, and building video walls. The HLMP-Lx75 and HLMP-Hx74/75 LED series offer a viewing angle of 40 by 100°, whereas the HLMP-Ax74/75 LEDs offer 30 by 70°. According to the company, the viewing angles and the luminous intensity of the LEDs deliver optimal performance for outdoor applications. The LEDs' package epoxy contains UV inhibitor to reduce the effects of long-term exposure to direct sunlight. The package also offers good resistance to moisture and provides durability for outdoor environments. The red AlInGaP LEDs are available at 626nm wavelength, whereas the green InGaN and blue InGaN LEDs are available at 530 and 470nm, respectively. The LEDs are available in lead-free and RoHS 6-compliant packages and have a JEDEC Class 1C HBM electrostatic discharge sensitivity.
