Atmel has upgraded the 8- and 16bit AVR XMEGA microcontroller family with a power consumption of 100nA with 5µS wake-up time. The microcontrollers include full speed USB, the precision analogue systems, a DMA (direct memory access) controller and the event system that maximise real-time performance and reduce CPU load. The microcontrollers provide integration, and capacitive touch support. The microcontrollers integrate full speed USB connectivity with functions that reduce overhead and provide high data rates. The company provides software for USB device classes in the AVR software framework, which includes drivers and communication stacks for microcontrollers. The microcontrollers include two 12bit ADCs with programmable gain stages. The ADCs operate down to 1.6V and have a combined sample rate up to 4Msamples/s.
