The MP2600iec motion module from Yaskawa has been added to its scalable machine control system. The plug-in IEC 61131-3 axis controller converts the Σ-V (Sigma-5) servo drive into an IEC-61131-3 and PLCopen motion based 1.5 axis controller for standalone machine subsystems in modular mechatronics machine architectures. Since motion control functions, PLC and drive regulation are integrated in a single PCB, it is possible to automate entire machine subsystems, says the company. The machine subsystem receives its guide value from a master encoder and synchronises its slave axis to this value. Communication is via Ethernet I/P, Modbus TCP, OPC server and web browsers. As well as master encoder input, the module contains eight digital inputs, eight digital outputs, one analogue input and one analogue output.
