Murata Power Solutions has announced the UEE series of open frame DC/DC converters. The converters are suitable for telecomms, networking, and instrumentation applications. The converters provide efficiency up to 90% and a single 3.3V DC output. They measure 58.4x22.9x10.16mm or 2.3x0.9x0.4inches and they are claimed to meet all the mechanical and electrical requirements of the DOSA (distributed power open standards alliance) compliant 1/8 brick package. Complying with the worldwide requirements for TNV (telecommunications network voltage) applications, they have an input voltage of 48V DC and can accommodate a input range from 36 to 75V DC.
The two models of the open frame DC/DC converters include the UEE-3.3/15-D48, which offers a 15A output, and the UEE-3.3/30-D48, which offers a 30A output. Mounting options include through-hole pin or surface mount. A base-plate option is available for the 30A through-hole model.
The converters can operate from -40 to +85°C in telecomms equipment when forced air cooling is applied. An output trim function can adjust the output to ±10% of Vout for voltage margining. The company claims that an on/off control input allows the application to enable or disable the output in order to sequence startup and shutdown if required. The converters have protection features such as input under-voltage lockout, output short circuit protection, thermal shutdown, and 2,250V DC basic insulation that complies with the requirements for PoE applications.
