GPEG has introduced four lightweight electronic paper, or e-paper, displays that use E-Ink imaging film to in the low power consumption panels. The displays are available in 1.44, 2, 2.7 and 3inch sizes. The electrophoretic displays are bistable and therefore require no power to maintain an image on the screen. E-Ink technology reflects light rather than emitting its own light, which makes the display easier to read in high ambient light conditions, especially in direct sunlight, claims the company. The 1.44, 2 and 2.7inch panels operate with a coin battery or solar power device. The 1.44inch version measures 40.5x28.8x1mm and provides 200x96 resolution; the 2inch model measures 57x28.2x1mm with the same resolution; the 2.7inch version measures 70.4x45.8x1mm and has a resolution of 264x176. The fourth version, is a 3inch QVGA display panel with a resolution of 320x240. All four panel versions can be used anywhere, says the company, where a thin, lightweight format is required, for example POS electronic price tagging, logistic container ID, medical devices (including prescription drug dispensers) and smart labels. The 3inch panel is appropriate for graphical and data-intensive applications such as industrial equipment displays and logistics identification tags.
