A range of corded, compact keyboards designed for limited desktop space has been launched by Cherry. The XS keyboards are claimed to have an operating life of over 20 million key strokes and suit 19inch applications such as server racks in datacomms rooms. There are three models available: the XS Complete Keyboard, the XS Trackball Keyboard, and the XS Touchpad Keyboard. The XS Complete offers a full keyboard layout and separate number block, making it suitable for data input applications where frequent number entries are required. Each individual key has gold crosspoint contacts. The keyboard features programmable keys and two detachable feet to adjust the tilt of the keyboard, and a fastening option for permanent installation. The XS Trackball keyboard has an optical trackball to the right of the standard keys in place of a separate number block. Cursor control is via the trackball and two mouse keys. It has an MTBF rate of over 4.9 million hours. The XS Touchpad has a 1000dpi touchpad with two mouse buttons on the right of the keyboard for cursor control. All three models are available in light grey or black finishes. They all measure 374x139x18mm and weigh 550g.
