Rakon's I(V)T2100L SMD TCXO (temperature compensated crystal oscillators) can drive two chips at the same time resulting in significant size reductions, claims the company. The two outputs are claimed to be independently controlled with separate enable and disable pins for enabling power management and clock distribution.
The oscillators employ an analogue ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) for the oscillator and a high order temperature compensation circuit in a 2x1.6mm package. Each of the two outputs can be placed in power down mode through a dedicated input pin per output. During standard operation, power consumption is minimised by operating down to a supply voltage of 1.8V. In addition, the dual output eliminates the need for a separate component for frequency distribution, claims the company. The oscillators are suitable for Bluetooth and GPS mobile applications such as smartphones, tablets, PNDs (portable navigation devices) and in-dash navigation.
