M/A-COM Technology Solutions has introduced a GaAs (gallium arsenide) broadband push-pull CATV (cable TV) amplifier. The MAAM-009455 amplifier features 20.5dB gain, with broadband linear performance. The amplifier is available in a 4x4mm QFN, 20-lead plastic package.
The amplifier targets next generation CATV HFC (hybrid fibre-coaxial), FTTx (fibre to
the x), HDTV, and EdgeQAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) infrastructure applications. The amplifier also features external feedback, allowing for gain tuning.
The amplifier exhibits a gain flatness of 0.5dB over 50 to 1000MHz operating band. Input return loss has been optimised to achieve good ratio of more than 20dB across the band. The distortion characteristics provide CSO (composite second order) and CTB (composite triple beat) performance. This amplifier exceeds DOCSIS 3.0 DRFI (downstream radio frequency interface) specifications making it an inter-stage or output-stage solution for EdgeQAM head-end infrastructure.
The amplifier operates at 8V and provides -70dB CTB, -70dB CSO, and -70dB cross modulation.
