Open-frame monitors from Elo TouchSystems now include the 22inch 2243L model. The high-definition display has a 16:9 aspect ratio for high definition images. The dislay is claimed to offer true HD interactivity in clarity and resolution, enabling slimmer kiosk designs in both portrait and landscape modes. The LED backlighting also reduces power consumption and is claimed to increase monitor longevity. The touch monitor has been developed for use in high-traffic public environments; casino, lottery and amusement industries are beginning to transition to the 16:9 aspect ratio, says the company. The slim design and narrow dimensions allow kiosk integrators to develop aesthetically-pleasing products. The monitor is available with the company's APR (Acoustic Pulse Recognition) or IntelliTouch surface acoustic wave touchscreen technology. According to the company, APR combines optical qualities and pure-glass durability with dragging properties. Touch activation can be by any stylus - pen, glove, bare finger and fingernail. Both screen versions use pure glass providing a touch surface resistant to scratches, water and other contaminants on the screen. The IntelliTouch screen is a pure glass construction, making it scratch-resistant. As a result, it is nearly impossible to physically wear out the touchscreen, claims the company.
