TDK-EPC has announced the TDK TFSQ0402 series of thin-film capacitors in a 0402 EIA01005 package. The Z-match capacitors are designed for power amplifier circuits and RF matching circuits in smartphones, mobile phones, and wireless LANs. The capacitors have a tolerance of ±0.05pF and a Q factor of 2.2pF at 2GHz. An SRF (self-resonant frequency) of 6.8GHz is claimed to help the capacitors exhibit good characteristics in impedance matching circuits. The terminations of the capacitors are located on the bottom surface of the components, and an exact dicing process ensures that the component dimensions are precise, thus making them suitable for mounting on modules. The components have an operating temperature range of -55 to +125°C and are designed for use at frequencies from 2.4 to 6GHz.
