Vishay Intertechnology has announced two surface-mount Power Metal Strip resistors in the 2726 and 4026 case sizes that combine high power ratings from 5 to 7W with resistance values down to 0.5mΩ. The resistors offer a four-terminal design that allows for stable resistance tolerances to 1% and operate from -65 to +170°C. The construction of the WSLP2726 and WSLP4026 resistors incorporate a solid metal nickel-chrome or manganese-copper alloy resistive element with TCR of less than 20ppm/ºC. AEC-Q200-qualified versions of the resistors are also available. The resistors are suitable for current sensing, voltage division, and pulse applications, including switching and linear power supplies, instruments, power amplifiers, and shunts in automotive electronic controls such as engine, brushless DC motor, anti-lock brake, and climate controls; industrial controls, and inverter controls for HVAC systems. The WSLP2726 resistor measures 6.9x6.6mm with a maximum height profile of 3mm, and the WSLP4026 measures 10.1x6.6mm with a height profile of 3mm. A proprietary processing technique produces resistance values ranging from 0.5 to 2mΩ, with tight tolerances of 1 and 5%. The resistors provide inductance of 0.5 to 5nH and thermal EMF of less than 3μV/°C, and are compliant to RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC.
