Micron Technology has introduced the 1Gbyte, 512 and 256Mbyte N25Q high-density SPI NOR memory in both 1.8 and 3V power supply voltages. The flash memory features multiple I/O protocol with single SPI, DSPI (dual SPI), and QSPI (quad SPI). The memory has 54Mbyte/s read transfer rate at 108MHz clock and 500kbyte/s program speed. The flash memory's footprint compatibility ranges from 32Mbyte to 1Gbyte. The flash memory is claimed to support 4byte of address mode for high-density range requirements of up to 128Mbyte and above, according to the company. The device's XIP (execute-in-place) capability supports code execution directly from the flash, thus minimising the use of the RAM. The nonvolatile configuration register is claimed to deliver maximum flexibility in application usage models. The flash memory is suitable for networking, set-top boxes, automotive and consumer applications.
