AVX has expanded its HQ Series MLC surface mount RF power capacitors to include P90 dielectric versions for high power, high frequency applications, such as medical and industrial electronics. The P90 dielectric material features a low ESR (equivalent series resistance) and dissipation factor at high frequencies. The latest capacitor version is available in E case sizes. The capacitors are designed for 300 to 7,200V applications and feature a dielectric strength of 120% of rated V DC. They can handle the high power and high voltage levels of RF power amplifiers, inductive heating, and high magnetic field environments, claims the company. They feature capacitance values from 5,100pF down to 1pF. The power capacitors feature a temperature coefficient of 0±30 or 90±30ppm/ºC over the operating temperature range of -55 to +125ºC.
