The XC9516 is a triple output power supply aimed at 11 to 14inch TFT-LCD panels. It can operate with input voltages between 2.5 and 5.5V. It consists of a non-synchronous step-up DC/DC converter, with integrated 1A Nch driver transistor, whose output voltage can be set externally between 5.5 and 19V; a positive charge pump, or doubler, with regulated output; and a negative charge pump, or inverter, with regulated output. The company claims that the following rails can be generated from a 3.3V input, with minimal external components: 12V at 100mA using the DC/DC, 25V at 5mA using the positive charge pump, and -15V at 5mA using negative charge pump. The power supply includes an internal voltage regulator, which keeps the on-resistance of the integrated driver transistor as small as possible when a low input voltage is applied, says the company. The switching frequency of the power supply can be adjusted between 300kHz and 1.5MHz by connecting a resistance to its ROSC pin. The power supply has protection circuits including thermal shutdown, under-voltage lockout with hysteresis, over-voltage protection, and short-circuit protection, one for each of the three outputs. The power supply is housed in a 4x4x0.75mm QFN-20 package.
