GE Intelligent Platforms has announced the MIP3ES miniature image stabiliser (pictured) which is suitable for use in size, weight and power-constrained military and aerospace applications. Measuring 34x24mm it is the size of a microprocessor and weighs just 6g. It consumes approximately 1.5W in power and can be used in small unmanned aerial vehicles, video gimbals and portable devices. The company claims that it provides high performance stabilisation of real-time video images with any standard definition analogue video signal. It has on-board serial links so that it can interface to most platforms and can be configured via web-based software. The company also offers the ADEPT3000 miniature video tracker which is also for military and aerospace applications in which size, weight and power are constrained.
