Providing an alternative to COTS products that are of fixed specifications, Aitech has developed the off-the-shelf A190 FlexiBuild, flexible, compact computer system and the A175 IO expansion sub-system. The A190 FlexiBuild is an integrated, out-of-the-box computer, with flexible configurations that can accommodate 3U VPX or cPCI cards. It includes a solid state IO transition module. It has a small footprint, rugged enclosure, with integrated 150W power supply, and is convection air-cooled. Based on this rugged baseline specification, users may specify a configuration with a choice of embedded SBCs, preferred PMC/XMC carrier and preferred PMC/XMC sub-system boards. All of the SBC and PMC/XMC IO pins are routed to front panel connectors. The A175 I/O expansion sub-system is a rugged IO interface unit of a single board design that expands an avionics computer's IO capabilities, by enabling a large variety of IO interface options (e.g. multiple analogue and digital channels), via MIL-STD-1553B. It also provides on-board A/D and D/A and high precision reference voltages for built in test. With low power consumption of less than 10W from a standard (MIL-STD-704D) 28V input, the sub-system is environmentally sealed in a rugged, convection air-cooled, compact Faraday cage enclosure which weighs less than 1.2kg.
