Pickering Interfaces has expanded its range of PXI RF switches with the introduction of the 40-754 SPDT (single pole double throw) switch module. It supports up to 17 off SPDT RF switches in a single module and is available in two versions based on a common switch design. The company claims that the high density version occupies one slot of a 3U PXI chassis and uses a high density MS-M RF multi-way connector that is suitable for switching frequencies to 500MHz. The high frequency version is two slots wide and uses SMB (sub-miniature version B) connectors and is suitable for switching signals to 1.2GHz. The switching module can be used in both commercial and military ATE systems. According to the company, the switching module is a suitable replacement for use in older VXI-based military ATE applications that are being replaced and upgraded with PXI and LXI modules where several SPDT are used as standard RF switch sub-assemblies. According to the company, the two models use a switch design based around electro-mechanical relays. In addition to being supported in any PXI compliant chassis, the two switches can be supported in the company's modular LXI chassis.
