Hittite Microwave has introduced the HMC829LP6GE, a low noise, wide band, fractional-N PLL that features an integrated VCO with a fundamental frequency of 2800 to 4200MHz, and an integrated VCO output divider. According to the company, these features allow the PLL to generate frequencies from 45 to 1050, 1400 to 2100, and 2800 to 4200MHz. The PLL is suitable for data rate radios, digital data storage replacement, phased array applications, cable TV and WiMax infrastructure applications. The PLL also features an integrated phase detector and delta-sigma modulator which can operate at up to 100MHz to permit wide loop-bandwidths with good spectral performance, says the company. It features a noise floor of less than -170dBc/Hz, which allows it to be a local oscillator source for RF mixers, a clock source for data converters, or a tunable reference source for spurious applications requiring spurs less than -100dBc/Hz. Additional features of the PLL include RF output power control from 0 to 6dB at 2dB steps, an output mute function, and a delta-sigma modulator exact frequency mode. The PLL is housed in a 6x6mm plastic leadless surface mount package and provides good temperature stability over the -40 to +85°C temperature range.
