TE Connectivity, formerly Tyco Electronics, has announced its latest cable identification marker. The durable heat-shrinkable wrap-around cable marker is designed to provide permanent marker identification ensuring that items do not have to be remarked in their lifetime, claims the company.

According to the company, intended for post termination applications and retrofit, it can be applied at any stage of the build process. The marker is suitable for small and large diameter cables, as well as for the identification of harnesses, hoses and pipes.

The marker is made from flexible materials and when heated with a heat gun the material shrinks and the hot melt adheres to provide a permanent bond and thus forms a snug fit around the cable. This means that despite daily hazards such as mechanical abrasion and exposure to fluids, the marking is kept intact, says the company.

The company has aimed to provide a product which breaks with convention: the markers can be available in the form of labels. The marker is suitable for aerospace, defense, marine and railway. It is available on rolls of 30.5m and can be printed and cut according to the length required. The heat-shrinkable wrap-around marker for cable identification complies with SAE-AS 5942.
