Ericsson has introduced two 16th-brick format DC/DC converters. Designed to power 60 to 65W applications, the PKU4619 and PKU4710 are suitable for telecomms and datacomms systems and equipment and also can be used in power industrial, process control, and test applications. They are also suitable for mini-basestations. Offering an input voltage range of 36 to 75V, the converters provide outputs of 2.5V for 25A and 3.3V for 20A, delivering output power of 62.5 and 66W, respectively. Due to their footprint of 33x22.9mm and height of 8.8mm, the duo can be used in low-profile applications when height is critical, according to the company. In a natural convection environment, full power can be delivered up to 40°C and, with a 3m/s airflow, up to 80°C. Offering an mean time before failure of more than 3.6million hr, the converters meet safety requirements according to IEC, EN, and UL 60950-1, offer input and output isolation of 1500V DC with protection features including output over-voltage protection, input under-voltage shutdown, over-temperature protection, and output short circuit protection. The converters are available in both through-hole of PI version and surface-mount of SI version types.
