Through collaboration with sister company, PolyPhaser Transector, Hypertac now offers connectors that protect against the higher energy transients associated with a primary lightning strike or EMP. A high energy pulse will be stopped at the chassis wall, instead of entering the main body of equipment. Transient-protected connectors traditionally use diode technology to shield sensitive circuitry from energy surges, however the energy levels these diodes can absorb are limited by the power rating of the diodes available. Connector types, with both filtered and with enhanced transient protection, are rectangular ARINC 600, circular 38999, and D-sub styles. The connectors use hyperboloid socket contact technology for fretting, signal integrity, insertion force and mating cycle performance.
