The Nemesis series from ITT Interconnect Solutions are lightweight, small form, ultra-rugged interconnects which are 100% sealed for harsh environments. They can be used for increased interconnectivity speed and signal integrity demanded by C4I (command, control, communications, computer and intelligence) systems and other applications in the field, for example in vision systems, headsets, GPS equipment and radios. They are sealed to IP67 or IP68 and are up to 50% lighter and 60% smaller than comparable 38999 connectors, says the company. The profiles have been reduced to the "no-profile" Space Saver variant, which is claimed to have the lowest profile on the market. Constructed from stainless steel, the connectors remain fully sealed in both mated and unmated conditions and have an enhanced strain relief to eliminate cable overstressing, ensuring the integrity of cable sealing. The company's canted spring technology enables snap-on or breakaway coupling and decoupling but also 360° EMI shielding. This is an important factor with high-speed data signal rates. Other design innovations are blind mating, for reliable and fast connection and anti-reflective, salt spray-resistant plating on the connector shells which protects the cable interface. Seamless ribbed over-moulding gives non-slip grip in damp conditions. There are three variations offered: Super Clean, Water Tight and High Mating. The first has a patented draw back barrel design which allows cleaning and reconnection in seconds under field conditions. Water Tight connectors have a snap-on and breakaway or push/pull coupling system and are sealed to IP68. Sealed to IP67, the High Mating interconnects are available with snap-on and breakaway coupling. The also use pogo pin contact technology guaranteed to 10,000 mating cycles. The pins and pad contacts have gold over nickel plating with a contact rating of 2A continuous, 3A peak. This version is designed to accept AWG sizes 24 to 32.
