Qualified to Bluetooth V4.0, EM Microelectronic has added the EM9301 to its CoolRF circuits family. The single-mode master/slave controller is optimised for low voltage and low energy systems such as wireless sensors, wireless remote controls and wireless monitoring. Operating supply voltage is as low as 0.8V, to take advantage of common single-cell batteries or of energy harvesters such as solar cells, piezo-electric and electro-magnetic elements. In receive mode, the circuit requires only 16.5mA peak current from physical layer to application layer. Under the same operating conditions, competing products consume up to 23mA peak current from physical layer to host interface only. In sleep or idle mode the circuit consumes less than 1µA. The controller can be interfaced with an eight-, 16- or 32bit host controller.
