Claimed to be the first broadband, HomePlug 1.0-compliant, powerline communications transceiver for harsh environments, the MAX2982 is from Maxim Integrated Products. A ‘robust' mode provides a receiver that operates at -1dB SNR for communications in the presence of noise. The device operates from -40 to +105°C and is qualified under AEC-Q100-Rev-G. The transceiver can be used for automation and control, remote monitoring, energy management, wireless basestation control and monitoring, and LANs. The transceiver is optimised for real-time control and automation. It has a low-latency 333µs response time and 14Mbit/s data rate to support data from arrays of automated equipment in a single network. The 512-address bridge table and point-to-multipoint addressing records, monitors, and controls hundreds of networked modems.
