Designed for for magnetic sensor applications in fast motor control units, iC-Haus has combined the iC-MH8 with a diametrically magnetised permanent magnet to create a robust, universal encoder for commutation and positioning. The device is in a QFN28 5x5mm package and includes a Hall sensor array with signal amplification control, two interpolators for incremental (ABZ, 12bit) and commutation (UVW) signals, integrated RS422 line drivers, and a serial SSI or BiSS interface. It can be used in fast motor control with short sensor latencies or fast position control in medical and industrial robotics as well as for absolute detection or measurement of angles of rotation and as substitute resolvers or optical absolute encoders. The angle resolution can be programmed in up to 4,096 steps/revolution. With an ABZ incremental signal output edge rate of 8MHz, speeds of up to 120,000 rpm can be recorded.
