ITT Interconnect Solutions has launched ultrasonically welded, two-piece cover sets and 24pin surface mount connectors designed to meet the latest CFast standards issued by the Compact Flash Association. Developed to meet the demand for fast storage speeds in digital cameras, handheld portable devices, computers and medical instruments, the latest CFast standard is the combination of Compact Flash and ATA serial transport. The card kits and connectors are designed to provide both the parallel ATA and SATA interfaces demanded by the curriculum and standards framework and conform to both Type I and Type II of the new specifications, claims the company. The cover sets consist of a plastic frame moulded around a stainless steel cover and oriented in position with guide-posts. Once assembled, the covers are ultrasonically welded together with a continuous weld joint around the perimeter of the card which is claimed to create secure, tamper-proof, rigid and robust card kits. The RoHS-compliant card kits feature optional mylar insulation and can be customised for different CFast product applications. The 24 position host and module surface mountable connectors can be mated up to 10,000 cycles.
