Linear Technology has announced the LT3759, a DC/DC controller for boost, single-ended primary-inductance converter and inverting power supply applications. The controller has two voltage feedback error amplifiers and reference voltages. One set is for positive output voltages, the other is for negative output voltages, both off a single feedback pin. The controller operates over an input of 1.6 to 42V and is suitable for industrial, automotive, medical and telecomms applications. According to the company, the controller has a programmable and synchronisable operating frequency range of 100kHz to 1MHz. The fixed frequency, current-mode control architecture helps in stable operation over a range of supply and output voltages, and the use of ceramic capacitors enables a small solution size, says the company. The controller is synchronisable to an external clock and drives an external N-channel MOSFET from an internally regulated 4.75V supply. Other features include programmable soft-start, accurate 50mV current sense threshold, programmable under-voltage lockout with hysteresis, and a power good signal along with output over-voltage and over-current protection. The controller is available in thermally enhanced MSOP-12 package and operates from -40 to 125°C. The H-grade version operates from -40 to 150°C.
