To support the latest high-speed InfiniBand CXP 12x QDR standard and IEEE 100Gbit/s Ethernet specification, TE Connectivity has developed an enhanced-footprint CXP pluggable connector and cage in a one-piece, press-fit assembly. The connector supports 12 channels of up to 10Gbit/s data rates for a total bandwidth of 120Gbit/s. It also supports pluggable copper or optical transceivers and active optical cable options.
EMI is reduced, claims the company, with the bezel opening and at the cage-to-plug interface. With an enhanced, dual-sourced footprint that increases space between the vias, it is also claimed to reduce cross-talk and improves electrical performance. The one-piece, press-fit design allows eliminates the extra steps of assembling the connector and cage as well as time placing the connector on the PCB. Threaded screw holes are optionally available to secure the assembly on to a board. There are also lightpipe and EMI or dust plug options as well as three heatsink heights. Belly-to-belly mounting options for use on both sides of a PCB board are also offered for high port density applications that require space savings. Target applications include network switches, routers, storage devices, direct attached storage, storage attached networks, network attached storage, controller cards and servers.
