M/A-Com has introduced S-band GaAs pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor digital phase shifters for communications and radar. The MAPS-010144 is a 4bit digital phase shifter which provides a 360° phase shift range with a step size of 22.5°. Its insertion loss is 2.5dB, with ±0.5dB attenuation variation and ±4° phase accuracy over the 2.3 to 3.8GHz frequency range. It features 0.35dB RMS attenuation error and 2.5° RMS phase error. The second version, the MAPS-010164 is a 6bit digital phase shifter which provides a 360° phase shift range with a step size of 5.625°. Its insertion loss is 3.2dB, with ±0.6dB attenuation variation and ±5° phase accuracy over the 2.3 to 3.8GHz frequency range. It features 0.3dB RMS attenuation error and 3° RMS phase error. Both phase shifters are controlled with a single 5V serial or parallel control line and are available in a 4mm, 24-lead PQFN package.
