Knitter-switch has introduced small, tactile, pushbutton switches, the TSS 5400 series, for handheld devices including PDAs used in medical and industrial applications. The switches are suitable for standby switch, volume adjustment, keypad lock and camera shutter functions. The switches measure 3.8x2.8x1.48mm. Models can be vertically or horizontally actuated. Operating actuation force is 160gf for vertically operated switches and 200gf for horizontal types. Contact rating is 50mA, 12V DC, electrical life is 100,000 cycles and the terminals are silver-plated over nickel. The switch cover is silver plated, stainless steel and the base is high-temperature thermoplastic. The halogen-free switches are available with the option of gold-plated contacts and operate from -40 to +85ºC.
